History of Cook County Tennis and Pickleball Association

The Cook Cunty Tennis Association,CCTA, was founded in 1992 through the dedicated effort of a small group of tennis enthusiasts.
While many individuals have contributed to the success of the CCTA, a few have made sustained contributions over many years including Francis Jarchow, Rod Wannebo, John Muus, Mark Summers, Audrey Houlett, Gene Glader, and Kathy Bolstad.  And a special thank you to all volunteers who have made the CCTA such a successful organization.

Overcoming numerous challenges, most notably weather and financial, the CCTA today is a robust organization with approximately 100 members, five hard surface courts, lighting, practice center and viewing stands.

The CCTA offers an extensive instruction program with a strong emphasis on encouraging junior play, holds numerous family friendly social events throughout the summer, and hosts the annual Fisherman's Picnic Tournament.

As of 2018 Pickleball (PB) was played on the courts and rolling PB nets were eventually purchased. The increase in number of PB players eventually led to permanent PB lines on the courts after resurfacing. The former CCTA is now known as Cook County Tennis and Pickleball Associatioin, CCTPA
